Obituary for William "Bill" Callachan

William "Bill" Callachan
Taunton: William J. Callachan, age 72, formerly of Medfield, passed away at home surrounded by his family.

Born in Medfield MA, William attended the Medfield Public School system and graduated with the class of 1963.

From high school he went on to distinguish himself with service to his country in the United States Navy from 1963 until 1967. William served on the USS Oriskany and the USS Simon Lake during the Vietnam conflict where he earned a National Defense Service Medal. He enjoyed attending many reunions over the years with his former Navy friends.

William then worked in Manufacturing/fabrication as a welder.

An avid sports fan, William was a past New England Patriots’ season ticket holder.

William was the loving husband of Betsy Callachan and the son of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Hennahane) Callachan, both of Scotland. His children include William Callachan Jr. and his wife Donna of Bridgewater, Mark Callachan and his wife Shannon of Atlanta, and Andrew and his wife Michelle of Avon. He was brother to James Callachan, the late Robert Callachan, the late Greta Clark, and the late Mimi Mattei. He is also survived by his grandchildren Mathew, Emily, Andrew Jr., Boston, Reid, Taylor Allen and Jared Allen.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon at Vine Lake Cemetery, Medfield MA.
