Mary K. (Moy) Newsham, age 72, of Millis, passed away after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. A wonderful wife and mother, Mary is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Larry Newsham and her loving daughters, Kimberly Donovan and her husband Jim, of Millis, and Kristen Turco and her husband Michael, of Northborough. Also surviving Mary is her sibling, Irene Sou and her husband Lai Fou. Mary also leaves behind 4 grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild and 4 step-great-grandchildren. Mary was the daughter of the late Chai Lai and Lew She Moy of Quincy.
One of the pioneering women of her time, Mary had a 35 year career as a TV technician at WCVB Channel 5 in Needham. She became a “mother” of the station, and took many of her colleagues under her wing, providing great mentorship and friendship. Some have credited her with the generous maternity leave policy.
Mary was always known for her unwavering love and support of others, her strength, warmth, positivity, hugs, and her smile. Mary loved keeping the long-lost art of writing letters and cards to family and friends alive, attending WCVB luncheons with her former coworkers, playing card games (most recently digitally on her iPad), and was especially devoted to her two closest grandchildren, Rebecca and Emma. She will be remembered for always selflessly taking care of everyone.
