Jennie R. “Gigi” (Agostino) Palange, 94, a longtime resident of Millis, Mass., passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2020, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife for 64 years to Emil “Emiddio” V. Palange, who predeceased her in June 2014.
Born Oct. 8, 1926, in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late Dominic and Mary (Oliva) Agostino. A graduate of Somerville High School, she was a devoted homemaker for many years and immensely enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
“Gigi” helped make many precious memories with her culinary skills and heartwarming hospitality from flipping pancakes for the neighborhood children to preparing pasta and meatballs for the pastor of her parish to serving delicious Italian cuisine to relatives, friends and her children’s acquaintances and companions.
She was a devout Catholic and a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Millis. She was a former member of parish organizations, including the choir, and appeared in community theater plays. She worked for several years as a part-time aide for the Millis School Department.
She is survived by: three children and their spouses, Mark G. and Donna Palange of Cumberland, R.I., Paul V. and Andria Palange of Seekonk and Joanne and Donald Hill of Millis; a sister, Susan Strazzere of Woburn; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by: a son, Richard Palange; a daughter, Lisa Chisholm-Palange; a brother, Nicholas Agostino; and a sister, Anna DiMinico.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, December 7, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 82 Exchange St., Millis. Interment will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Auburn Road, Millis. Calling hours will precede the Mass from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Roberts Mitchell Caruso Funeral Home, 90 Curve St., Millis.

Dear Palange family, we are so saddened by the loss of your loved matriarch! When we were taking care of your grandfather(who we both adored), Gigi was always there to greet us. Often offering us a little wine no matter what time of day it was! She made us laugh and loved teaching us to cook for her beloved husband. Every moment we spent in that home was a joy. We loved taking care of your parents. Always said we were going to go back and see Gigi. Unfortunately life gets in the way, especially when I moved to the Cape. You were all blessed to be raised by such loving parents. We're both so sorry but I'm sure shes up their with your Dad and Lisa having a little taste of wine.
With much love,
Sue Simoneau
